The lipstick obsession strikes again. I was sent a Makeup Forever VoxBox with three of the new Artist Rouge lipsticks (s/o Influesnter). First of all, I would like to address this sleek metal packaging that opens to display a silver rim flashing the Makeup Forever logo. My all-time favorite lipstick formula has to be anything from Bite beauty because of how smooth they apply. I was ecstatic that these have the same effect! I would even go as to say they might me slightly smoother- but a little thicker which isn’t necessarily a bad thing as this usually leads to a longer wear. The opacity of these lipsticks is unlike any other in my collection (they do surpass Bite). I made the mistake of applying the bright red shade first, then the mauve and finally the pastel purple. To my surprise, after irritated lips and the stain from the previous colors, the pastel shade completely covered my lips. They have a satin finish and are not drying. They smell similar to other MUF lip products. In my opinion it is a slight plastic scent- nothing overbearing though. These sell for $22 each compared to $26 for Bite Amuse Bouche lipsticks- although the ingredients for Bite are better, with a better scent.
Bottom Line: These are amazing quality lipsticks that aren’t too up there in terms of price. There is an amazing color range and the texture is incredible. I would absolutely recommend these!
btw: sry for the slight lighting change in the first pic but I promise this still is a pretty accurate color representation!
Hello lovies! I wanted to write a more casual post that you guys can engage in more. Recently I have been trying so many new skincare products that I bought/received samples of through online orders (sneak peek above). Skincare is a party of the beauty world that I believe doesn’t get enough attention. I have really gotten into using new skincare products within the past 6 months and I can already see an improvement in my skins texture and appearance. I am someone who struggles with acne and because my skin scars so easily, I always have acne scars. I also have large pores on my nose and oily skin. I am very excited for all of the reviews that are coming up; since skincare can be very pricey, I always thoroughly research a product before I purchase it so I don’t waste my money or time. I already have found a few great products that I know I will be keeping in my routine and also a few that I don’t think are worth the hefty price tag. If you have any holy grail skincare products that you think would work well for me, please comment them down below and I would love to give them a try! Don’t forget to subscribe to thepalmbeachbrunette through Bloglovin or through my email subscription! Thank you all for you likes/comments so far, it means a lot!
After your initial heart palpitation from reading this title, you’re curiosity has brought you here to this article. I know what you’re thinking, do I really put men’s shave balm on my face? Yes, yes I do, and it is one of the best decisions of my makeup life. I am going to preface this article by saying you’re welcome for introducing you to this amazing product. The hype has been circulating this product for about a year now, first coming into beauty enthusiasts wish lists after YouTube sensation Nikkie Tutorials introduced this revolutionary makeup primer on her channel.
This product which is intended for men contains glycerin (as the second ingredient) which as you may or may not know is great for makeup primers as grabs onto makeup helping it last longer. I recently put up a review of my previous favorite makeup primer- the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. This primer retails for $52. Once I tried the Nivea balm, my love affair with Hourglass fizzled. Costing less than $10 for a whopping 3.3 oz, this product prolongs my foundation better than any other primer I have used. I loved the Hourglass primer for it’s blurring effect, luckily, I get a similar result with the Nivea. It smooths my skin and blurs my pores, making a smooth canvas for my face makeup. This balm is intended for sensitive skin so don’t be too nervous about trying it.
The consistency of this product is pretty thin in the context of face primers and has a cooling affect when applied. It smells like the boyfriend you wish you had and dries quickly into a semi-tacky finish which your foundation will gladly stick to. The packaging is a large white glass bottle which looks booshie on your vanity (when you remove the Nivea sticker). I cannot say enough great things about this primer so please do yourself a favor and add this to your makeup routine.
This product retails from $3-$6 and is available at drugstores and supermarkets.
Bottom Line: This is the absolute best value makeup product I own. You get so much product for the price and it works wonders! I can definitely see the difference when I don’t use this so it is an absolute must. GO GET IT NOW.
As someone who has oily skin and large pores, primers are a must in my makeup routine. I have tried many primers and there are only a few that work on my skin. The Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer is hands down my favorite primer that I have tried up to date. I have been using this primer for that past year and it has changed the makeup game for me. Since starting to use this primer, my makeup goes on so much more smoothly and looks amazing. This primer completely blurs the pores on my face and makes for a smooth, even canvas. This primer has SPF 15 which is great for everyday use. It is free of:
• Synthetic Dyes
The texture of this primer is very unique; it is very light weight and very smooth. Once applied, the skin feels extremely soft. I definitely notice a difference when applying foundation and other face makeup without this underneath. The price for this primer ranges from $18-$72 depending on the size you purchase. Although this is a pricey product, I completely think it is worth it due to the great ingredients and results. This primer will last a very long time as a little goes a long way. Hourglass is a cruelty-free brand so this primer is Vegan.
Bottom Line: This is an amazing face primer, worth every penny! If you don’t want to break the bank, go for the small $18 size!
Culottes have been EVERYWHERE this Spring, they may remind you of the infamous Gaucho pant. In 3rd grade, I rocked a brown pair that was decorated with gold beads. But this chic version is no elementary school textile. The culotte has an incredible ability to be worn in a slouchy, casual fashion or dressed up for the red carpet. However you choose to wear them, they always add intrigue to any outfit and instantly up your cool-o-meter. I still haven’t gotten around to getting a pair but they are definitely on my shopping list.
Bottom Line: Go run out and get some! Effortlessly stylish.
I have always felt out of touch with CoverGirl products. In middle school when everyone else was using the original orange tube of Lash Blast, I was trying something new. This is the first CoverGirl mascara I have ever used and I have mixed feelings. I typically like plastic wands but the short fibers confused me. The short fibers and the way they are placed compactly on the wand makes for a volumizing mascara. This mascara is definitely strictly a volumizing mascara and does not lengthen lashes at all which is disappointing. I do notice that this mascara clumps easily which I have heard about other CoverGirl mascaras. Also, because the wand is so thick it is very easy to get this mascara all over your eye lid. Once this mascara dries, it does leave the lashes feeling very dry and almost crusty, I also notice a slight flaking throughout the day. If you maneuver the wand correctly, you can avoid clumping and end up with pretty volumized lashes. I prefer using this mascara over a lengthening mascara so I can get the best of both worlds. This mascara ranges from $6-$9 depending on where you purchase it. CoverGirl does test on animals so this mascara is not cruelty-free.
Bottom Line: This mascara is pretty average for me. I wouldn’t re-purchase it and I think you can find better volumizing mascaras at the drug store like the L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes.
I have officially started my MAC eyeshadow collection. With the recent price decrease ($6) that I previously wrote about, I thought it would be a good time. I bought a palette to put them in and I am excited to add on.
